Assignment #12

1. Writing my play was a lot of fun for me. I got to write about what I was thinking about when I was thinking about it which was great. My only problem was the limitations to what I could do on stage. I originally wanted to have my play take place in several different settings but when you are performing something on stage it is difficult to do because there is a limited amount of space and time to put on a production. I personally don't like writing plays because I don't feel that I can be very creative because of all of the limitations. I also don't have the patience to write a play. If I have a good idea I roll with it but once I stop I completely loose interest.

2. I think I could write a story about my old dog Winnie because she is something that I'm really passionate about. I think if I wrote about her I would be able to keep going with all of y experiences with her form the day I brought her home to the day she died. She was very important to me and my family so I would be able to tell the story from more than one point of view. I could also write a story about my family and the things that go on in our lives. My family is unique to put it nicely and I think that a select few of my family members would be good characters to base a comedy off of.

3. If I had to tell a five year old kid something about growing up in this cruel world is to not have any individuality. If you are like everyone then people will like you. It doesn't make any sense to try and branch out and be your own person because people will just not except you. The only way to make friends is to have something in common. No one appreciates individuality everyone is just obsessed with being the best. My best advice for them is to buy what everyone else is buying and look like everyone else and you will have friends and life will be good for you.

Assignment #11

1. I think that it is very important to have a theme in your writing because without the theme the story doesn't go anywhere. If you write a story how can you write without a theme? I think that would be really chaotic. The story would jump all over the place but even then it would still have a theme of being jumbled. It is virtually impossible for a story to have a theme because there is no such thing as a story without a theme in my opinion.

2. If the piece of literature is good and attracts a big audience then it will be passed on for a while. Things have good themes, central ideas, and main points will be read for years to come. I can not see myself writing something that lasts because my writing isn't very good. I kind of get caught up in the mix of my writing and I forget to add something and I'll add it later but it doesn't necessarily make sense so I put is somewhere else where it makes equally as little sense as before. It's just one big circle of confusion.

3. I want to be a famous actress and I think that would have an impact on the people around me. I have always dreamed of being on Broadway some time in my life time. I want to be the one who blows people away for a change instead of being in the back round. I want people to remember me and talk to their grand kids about the time when I did something that really amazed them. I want to be the person who kids want to be! I just really want to be famous.

Assignment # 10

1. Something in the world that concerns me is bad teachers. It's really surprising to me how many there are and it concerns me when I take into consideration the fact that almost everything that we learn is from our teachers. It also freaks me out because they are the ones who are the bad teachers yet they are the ones who give us our grades! Then those grades are recorded in our record for colleges to see and if they don't like the grades that we are given they don't accept us and it all goes to the teacher that gave us a bad grade for their sucky performance.
2. I know this person who is BOLD beyond BOLD! She always says whats on her mind no matter if you want to hear it or not. She's not trying to be mean she just feels that she needs to let you know. The thing that I like about her is that I know if she didn't care about me that she wouldn't say the things that she does
3. Explain in detail. Something that really inspires me is good music. When I listen to good music ideas, no matter how random they are, start flowing like there's no tomorrow. The music that has been inspiring me the most lately is the sound track from Le Roi de Soliel. Even though it's all in french I feel like I understand whats going on and how the characters feel and that inspires many ideas in my head.

Assignment #9

1. Happiness is a mix of different feelings. It is an overwhelming good feeling about something. It could be a sense of accomplishment or a sense of pride. It's just basically anything that makes you feel good about something or yourself.

2. Happiness for me is being on stage and performing for others. It gives me a major adrenaline rush and it's really exhilarating. That's not necessarily the case for other people who have stage fright or people who get nervous in front of a crowd. Happiness to me is also being in water. I love lakes, pools, and oceans. They all make me feel really at peace and make me happy.

3.My parents and my friends have the biggest effect on my mood. If I have a bad experience with one of them then I have a bad mood all day.

4. I think that my actions effect anyone who hears or sees me do them. I would say the main people that my actions effect are my parents and my brother because they are around me all the time and have to deal with me.

5. My greatest need in life is attention. I hate to admit it but I love to be the center of attention and when people pay attention to me it makes me feel really good. When people ignore me it really bothers me.

Assignment # 7

1. I really liked writing short stories but I feel like we should have had more time to finish them because I'm not 100% satisfied with my short stories. I wanted to elaborate more on them and maybe extend the plot.

2. I think my strongest piece of writing is my neighbors poem. I really liked doing it and I think that's really important when writing. I really got into it and I think that the poem reflects it.

3. I have realized that I need structure when I'm writing because otherwise I wouldn't know what to write about. Without direction I think that I probably wouldn't accomplish much. I'm a chatty person and when I'm not given things to do I kind of get carried away with the chatter.

4. I really want to write plays, non-fiction, or reviews! I really like to be super creative and have no boundaries with what I need to write. I also enjoy giving my opinion on other things so writing reviews would give me a reason to say what I think about something :).

Assignment #6

1. I like to be scared. It is fun to feel like you have no control over what happens. I ok with being scared a safe area where nothing can actually go really wrong. I also like going into haunted houses and watching scary movies.

2. I am really scared of clowns! They freak me out. I don't understand why they wear so much makeup and they never stop smiling. They don't smile in a normal way they smile with a creepy grin and it makes me really uncomfortable. I just recently saw the movie IT and it just reconfirmed my fears. I am also afraid of looking in mirrors at night. I think I have watched way too many scary movies and when I look in the mirror in the dark I always expect something to pop up behind me so I never look into mirrors at night. I am also afraid of going to my car at night because I think someone is in my back seat so I check that before I get into the car. That kind of started after I heard the ghost story of the guy in the back seat of the car that pops out with a knife. Subtle things scare me more than blood and guts I don't mind gory things.

3. In my opinion the definition for madness is when someone is driven to the dark side of their sanity and goes against things that are good and starts to become evil.

4. I think people drive themselves mad. People are very good at imagining things and when they allow themselves to believe those illusions is when they go mad. I believe that people are their own worst enemies and they are responsible for what goes on with themselves.

Assignment # 5

1. Sitting on his rocking, chair holding his cat Fuzzel, staring at the door is Howard Wilson.

2. Bang! Bang! "let us in, we know you're in there" . With glazed over eyes Howard Wilson held on to his cat and focused on the lock on the door that he hoped would not fail him. That was the last time anyone ever saw Howard Wilson.

3. As Becky came to her patient Howard Wilson's house she noticed something very odd, the door was opened. In all of the years she had known him he had never left the door open.

4. Mr. Wilson was a slightly excentric man. Knowing this many people dismissed pretty much everything that he said. Those people who didn't listen are responsible for his death.

5. "What do you know about the dissapearence of a Mr. Howard Wilson?"

Assignment 4

I really did not like the story that we read last night because it was depressing. I thought that it gave me a weird feeling when reading it and all I wanted was Connie to get out of the situation that there was way out of.

Task 1:

A) The setting in the second half of the story was at first in her room then outside with the creepy guy. I thought that was important because she got what she said she wanted. She was away from her family and she got male attention. I think that she realized that you need to be careful for what you wish for because that ended up being a bad situation.
B) Connie's character drove me in because I thought she was stupid. I wanted to find out what was going to happen next because I was hoping she would realize that she was wrong and in the end I think that she figured it out. I don't think that she asked for it. There are tons of girls that do the same stuff she did and they just want to have fun not be raped.
C) The main conflict in the story is between Connie and her mother. I really think if Connie had a better relationship with her mom things wouldn't have happened.
D)This story draws people in because they can relate to the character of Connie. She has many sides that could attract many readers. She might also be an advisory to girls who are being too quick to grow up.
E) I think in the end Connie gets raped.
F)I think that the creepy was really good at messing with Connie's mind. He was really condescending and he just kept talking. He probably had a troubled child hood. That's the only conclusion for how he got so creepy. I really don't think that has anything to do with society. Of course that type of thing happens all of the time but not enough that it has to do with society.

Task 2:
  1. an exciting attention grabber.
  2. action throughout the whole story.
  3. rateable characters.
  4. a possible scenario.
  5. not too long.
  6. not too short.
  7. delivers point clearly.
  8. no flash backs.
  9. keeps you guessing.
  10. no difficult words.

  1. 2.

Assignment #3

I am supposed to put on a poem so here is the best one that I have written so far. I hope you enjoy it!

NEIGHBORS

My neighbors drive me crazy
and not just one but two
my neighbors drive me crazy
please tell me what I should do.

Oh, so you want a description
well just sit tight
you'll understand my bickering
heck, I have the right!

First there is Timmy
a lump of a man
his dog barks
his kids bark
he barks
what else can I say
he likes to pop over and chat
in a funny but particular way
first he starts with small talk
then he moves to gossip
I personally don't care for gossip
it moves nowhere fast

Then there's Dave
with bloodshot eyes that are always in a daze
"totally dude!"
is his favorite phrase
his German Shepard Stella
has attacked my dog twice
and it itches its self like it has lice

What? You don't that's too bad
wait there's more

They are always together
morning
afternoon
night
it's non-stop!
and whenever I go outside they are there
walking the dog
they're there
driving
they're there
BBQ'ing
they're there
it's ridiculous!

My neighbors drive me crazy
and hopefully now you see
how these two crazy cooks
have almost got the best of me.

DAISY

Crazy Daisy
two personalities
one dog
how can something have so much intense energy?
with a persistent tail and mouth
she greets newcomers
jumping as if it was the happiest moment of her life
it's what she lives for
sweat simplicity
if only my life was that simple.

When I think of a piece of writing that has influenced me in the past I think of a poem called Animal Crackers. I first read it when I was with my grandma While my parents were at work. She read it to me and made funny voices with the different characters to make it more interesting. I immediately loved the story! Then it was a while since I had even thought about it and I had top bring in a poem to share with the class ( it was 2nd grade). My Grandma pulled out the book and said why dont you pick one out from here and I looked through it and found it.

"The MouseA mouse is such a funny thing, it cannot dance or even sing.It simply stands or runs about, twitching whiskers on it's snoutMaking ladies scream and rant, been known to scare an elephant.Lives around this earthly rock but I've never seen one in a clock."

That is the most important piece of writing to me just because it was fun and goofy when I was a kid and I dont want to forget it!

Do you think Funnier poems are better to read? Why/ why not? Do you have a favorite poem from your childhood?

Assignment #1

Hey!

I'm my name is Natalie. I'm a cheerleader at EHS and I love if. I also am in the musical, West Side Story, it is an AMAZING show and I strongly urge anyone who is reading this to go and see it. It starts in November. Any ways I really enjoy listening to music. It doesn't really matter what kind as long as it has a good beat I'll listen. I am kind of into show tunes because I LOVE musicals. My favorite kinds of books to read are comedies and mysteries. I have a mom, dad, brother, and a new puppy. My puppy's name is Daisy. She is really cute but she is CRAZY. Right now the thing that is mostly on my mind is homecoming. I know it's just a dance but I really want to go and not in a girl group, I'm not that desperate. I just guess that I would like to be able to think that someone thought about me. Someone actually sat down and took the time to think hey I think I'll ask Natalie to the dance. It's a flattering thought. Oh well, moving on, I'm not much of an avid reader but the last book that I read that I really liked was to kill a mocking bird. That's about it for now. Untill next time!
